Zero-tolerance. Meet Around prohibits all forms of child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) on our platform. Any content, behavior, or account violating this policy is removed without warning and reported to the relevant authorities.
1. Scope and Purpose
This document sets out Meet Around's standards for preventing, detecting, and responding to child sexual abuse and exploitation. It is published in compliance with Google Play's Child Safety Standards Policy and applies to every user, post ("Talk"), comment, message, profile, and piece of media on the Platform.
Meet Around is intended for users aged 13 and older. Date-of-birth verification is required at sign-up; users below the minimum age are blocked from completing registration.
2. What is Strictly Prohibited
The following content, behaviors, and accounts are not permitted on Meet Around under any circumstances. Each is an immediate-removal offense and may be reported to law enforcement:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — any image, video, audio, illustration, animation, AI-generated, or text-based content depicting the sexual abuse or exploitation of a minor.
- Sexualized depictions of minors — including suggestive imagery, text, or descriptions, regardless of artistic, educational, or fictional framing.
- Grooming behavior — adults building inappropriate emotional or sexual relationships with minors, including manipulation, gift-giving, or normalization tactics intended to enable abuse.
- Sextortion — coercion using sexual content, threats to share intimate images, or exploitation of a minor's images for any purpose.
- Solicitation of CSAM — requesting, attempting to obtain, sharing, distributing, or trading any sexual content involving minors.
- Trafficking and exploitation — the recruitment, transportation, or commercial sexual exploitation of minors.
- Predatory contact — adults attempting to meet minors offline outside of clearly safe and lawful contexts.
- Underage account use — any account created by or used by a person below the minimum age of 13, or by anyone misrepresenting their age to access age-restricted features.
- Sharing of minors' personal information — including unauthorized sharing of a minor's full name, school, address, school schedule, contact details, or images that could be used to identify or locate them.
3. How Users Can Report a Concern
Meet Around provides multiple in-app and external channels for reporting child safety concerns. Every report is treated as urgent.
3.1 In-app reporting
- Report a Talk or comment — open the Talk or comment, tap the ⋮ (three-dot) menu, choose Report, then select the relevant category (a "Child safety / minor in danger" category is available).
- Report a profile — open the user's profile, tap ⋮, choose Report, then select the category.
- Report a chat message — long-press the message, tap Report, select the category.
- Block a user — available on every profile and chat. Blocking and reporting are independent — blocking alone does not file a report.
3.2 Email and external reporting
External CSAE reporting hotlines: NCMEC CyberTipline (US, +1-800-843-5678 or report.cybertip.org), INHOPE (international network of national hotlines, inhope.org), or your country's national child-protection authority.
4. How We Respond
Meet Around's response process to any reported child-safety concern:
- Acknowledge: the reporter receives confirmation of receipt within 24 hours where contact information is provided.
- Triage: a trained moderator reviews the report on a priority queue separated from general moderation. CSAE reports are reviewed within 24 hours; reports indicating immediate danger to a minor are reviewed within 1 hour where possible.
- Action: if the content or behavior violates this policy, the content is removed, the account is suspended pending investigation or terminated, and any associated content is preserved (in encrypted, access-controlled storage) for cooperation with law enforcement.
- Escalation to authorities: apparent CSAM is reported to the U.S. National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via the CyberTipline as required by 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, and to the relevant European national hotline via INHOPE and to applicable national authorities. Where reporting obligations apply in the user's jurisdiction, we comply with them in addition to U.S. and EU obligations.
- Cooperation with law enforcement: Meet Around responds to lawful subpoenas and emergency disclosure requests from law enforcement agencies investigating offenses against minors.
- Reporter follow-up: the reporter receives a status update on the outcome of their report (subject to applicable privacy and law-enforcement-secrecy obligations).
5. Prevention and Detection
Beyond reactive moderation, Meet Around uses the following preventive measures:
- Age gating — users must confirm date of birth at sign-up; under-13 registration is blocked.
- Identity verification (optional) — users can earn a Verified badge by submitting a selfie + ID document. Verification photos are reviewed by a human moderator; mismatches between claimed age and apparent age are flagged.
- Profile and post review — content reported by users is human-reviewed; we do not rely solely on automated triage for child-safety reports.
- Sensitive search blocking — search queries that match common terms used to locate exploitative content are blocked and the user is shown information about reporting concerns.
- Repeat-offender ban — accounts removed for child-safety violations are permanently banned. Where lawful and necessary, device identifiers and IP signals are used to prevent repeat sign-up.
- Education — users are shown safety guidance the first time they post a Talk, send a chat message, or receive a chat message from someone who is not in their existing connections.
